As the winter season approaches, our skin will need extra care. Extreme temperatures, harsh winds, winter sun, central heated homes, and workplaces are among the factors responsible for skin problems during winter. This means we will have to upgrade our skin care routine. All the products we use on spring and summer time might not work during this cold dry weather.

Try these nourishing home remedies to treat your winter-dry skin problems.

Milk Cream – One of the popular and effective home remedies to treat dry skin problem is the milk cream. The presence of lactic acid in milk cream helps exfoliate dry skin and preserve the skin’s pH level. It is also great to use as a skin moisturizer for dry skin.

What You Will Need:

  • a few drops of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of milk
  • 2 teaspoons of milk cream


  • Mix a few drops of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of milk and 2 teaspoons of milk cream to make a paste.
  • Apply the paste mixture on your face, hands, and legs. Leave it for 15 minutes and rinse off with water.

Honey – Honey is loaded with antioxidants, antimicrobial and humectants properties. It is considered as one of the best natural skin moisturizers, especially for dry and flaking skin.

What You Will Need:

  • 2 teaspoons of honey
  • a few drops of olive oil


  • Mix 2 teaspoons of honey and few drops of olive oil.
  • Apply the honey and olive oil mixture 10-15 minutes before taking a bath.

Milk – The use of milk as a treatment for itchy and dry skin is proven and effective because it contains anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. Milk also helps prevent premature aging and acne, removes dead skin cells, and makes the face more radiant and healthy.

  • 4 teaspoons of milk
  • few drops of rose water
  • few drops of lemon juice


  • Mix together 4 teaspoons of milk, few drops of rose water and lemon juice.
  • Apply the mixture all over your body. Leave it for 10-15 minutes before taking a bath.

Coconut Oil – According to experts, coconut oil is one of the best natural beauty products to use. For many good reasons, coconut oil is naturally antibacterial and antifungal and excellent skin moisturizer. Coconut oil amazingly treats dry skin because it contains a good amount of fatty acids that make up any moisture loss of the skin.

What You Will Need:

  • Generous amount of coconut oil


  • Apply coconut oil all over your body before going to sleep.
  • Rinse it off with water in the morning.

  • ripe banana
  • 2 tablespoons of yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of honey (optional)


  • Mash a ripe banana and mix well with 2 tablespoons of yogurt and 1 teaspoon of honey.
  • Apply the mixture on your face and hands. Leave it for 20 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.
