Common Hair Mistakes and How to Fix Them

We all make mistakes and sometimes our simple hair care routine or habits create damages to our mane that we didn’t notice until it’s too late.
Mistake #1: Too Much Hair Product
♦ We all believe that “more is better”, this is not true. Just because you use a triple amount of hair products doesn’t mean your locks will greatly benefit from it. Sometimes instead of fixing your hair problems, it becomes much worst.
Mistake #2: Over Washing Your Strands
♦ Avoid washing your hair daily unless you have a super oily scalp or your hair gets too greasy at the end of the day. Over washing your hair especially if you are a fan of a hot shower is not good. It strips away the natural oil of the hair and your scalp will not be able to naturally condition your hair. For those who just cannot stand to go a day without washing their strands, use a gentle cleansing shampoo or a dry shampoo.
Mistake #3: Excessive Use of Hot Tools
♦ Relying on your blow dryer, curling iron, and flat iron will never do your hair good. Heat styling is viewed as number one enemy of the hair because the heat from these tools rapidly dries out the hair. These hot tools will also make your hair look crispy and will eventually break and create split ends because it sucks the moisture out of the hair. Air-dry when possible and try to limit your hot tools usage to 2 times a week.
Mistake #4: One Hundred Brush Strokes Each Day
♦ This is a myth. In fact, excessive brushing does more harm than good. Contrary to this belief, hundred brush strokes each day will only break and damage your hair cuticles making it dull. Never comb or brush hair when it is too wet, let it dry first.
Mistake #5: Too Many Hair Treatments
♦ Too much is bad; the same goes for your frequent visit to the salon for hair treatments. The hair has a natural growth process and if anything disturbs this process then it causes damage to your hair. Too much hair treatments and hair products attack your mane with chemicals that cause dryness, hair fall, baldness, and other problems.
Mistake #6: Tight Ponytails and Braids
♦ Extreme pressure from rubber bands can cause the hair cuticle to tear and will result in hair breakage and split ends. Avoid tying your hair too tightly and once in a while, let it rest and let your hair down.
Mistake #7: Choosing the Wrong Shampoo
♦ The choice you make when buying your shampoo is important for your hair care. To avoid hair problems, make sure that you only use a shampoo that suits your hair type.
